Dear Summer Law Associates And Clerks, Here Are 20 Sympathetic Intern Stories To Soothe Your Anxieties
">
"Fate fell short this time / Your smile fades in the summer / Place your hand in mine / I'll leave when I wanna" -- Blink 182
As the summer associate season comes to a close, I'd like to share some intern stories that everyone may be able to relate to.
In past recruiting seasons, Above the Law has published some memorable law student interview stories as well as tips for how to survive OCI. And of course, we have a slew of subsequent summer associate stories in our archives.
Whether it's consulting, finance, medicine, media, or another apprenticeship experience, every summer cohort surely has memorable moments. This spring, an HBO intern inadvertently sent a test email to the HBO Max mailing list. In a prompt follow-up, HBO Max tweeted:
We mistakenly sent out an empty test email to a portion of our HBO Max mailing list this evening. We apologize for the inconvenience, and as the jokes pile in, yes, it was the intern. No, really. And we're helping them through it.
As highlighted by UpWorthy:
The internet responded by showering support on the anonymous intern, with many people, including celebrities, sharing their own stories of messing up at work. Monica Lewinsky, whose internship at the White House turned into a nightmare, rallied around the intern, tweeting: "Dear intern: it gets better," followed by a heart emoji, adding. "ps. don't wear a beret for a while, k?" she concluded, referencing the image of her wearing a beret and standing alongside then President Bill Clinton. It was one of the defining images of the scandal.
Without further ado, here are a few more sympathetic stories many of us can relate to:

To be sure, every summer class has an A.1. Sauce Moment. Of course, not all of them are retold in a Netflix hit series. Perhaps you have a notable story or two from your summer associate or clerk experience that you'd like to share with us. Please, feel free to send them our way. And who knows, maybe one day it'll end up on television!
